Guidelines

1. Everyone is encouraged to comment, but only UU membership professionals may post new entries.

2. Post and comment unto others as you would have them post and comment unto you.

3. Only post about issues related to membership and membership professionals. No personal posts please. (Example: don’t post something like “this weekend I saw a good movie,” unless of course that movie made you think about membership.)

4. Post under your own name, but feel free to comment anonymously.

5. Don’t write anything you don’t want your boss or board to see.

Instructions

Adding a new post to the blog is a lot like sending an email, with a couple of additions.

To sign up, go to this page and follow the instructions. After you register, you’ll be asked to verify your name and employment at a UU congregation.

1. To write a new post, go to this page and log in. (Bookmark this link.) Then just click on the “Write a New Post” button on the right.

2. Use a good descriptive title. (”Membership Doesn’t Just Mean Signing the Book and Pledging” is a better title than just “Membership.”)

3. Writing and formatting a post works just like Microsoft Word. You can even spell check.

4. Please don’t write in all capital letters unless absolutely necessary. Many people consider it to be online screaming. Using bold and italics is a better way to add emphasis.

5. To add a link to your post, outline the text in your post that you want to be the link. Then hit the link button (looks like a horizontal chain) and either type in the link or cut and paste it in.

6. Add categories. You can find the list below where you write your post. Categories make it easier for readers to find posts by topic.

7. Hit either “save” or “publish” on the right sidebar. “Save” is for when you’d like to come back to your post later before you put it up on the website. (Great for drafts.) “Publish” puts it up immediately on the front page of the website.
